How To Configure Upselling? ▲ ▼
Upselling can be configured in OrderAway to support either or both of the following options:
Add Ons ▲ ▼
This is generally presented to patrons when they navigate to the Checkout for the first time. In most cases it is a list of Items/Products, patrons can select from to add to their existing Order. However, it can also be an image informing patrons of the options available to them when ordering from the Venue. It can also be both. To configure Upselling for Add Ons in OrderAway, do as follows in:
- In the swiftpos Keyboard Designer:
- Add a Keyboard Layout (for example, OA Upselling) to the OrderAway Keyboard currently in use.

Take note of the ID of the Keyboard Layout created, as it will be needed when configuring Upselling later.
- In the swiftpos Keyboard Designer continued ...
- Add the Items/Products identified above, to the Layout. The order in which they are added to the Layout will determine the order in which they are presented to patrons.
- Save the changes.

In the POS tab (refer HERE for more information), do as follows:
- Ensure the Show on Checkout option is selected to ensure the Upsell option configured is displayed BEFORE the Checkout is displayed.
- To display a list of Items/Products to patrons, enter the ID of the Layout in the Using Layout field.
- To display an advertising image to patrons, select the Select button to locate the image and select the appropriate image. Once selected and loaded, the image will be displayed in the Advertising Image section.
- Alternatively, a message can be displayed to patrons if no image is selected. To do this:
- Enter the message in the Message field.

- Select Save to save the changes.

If a Checkout Image is configured, it will be displayed BEFORE any of the Add-on Items/Products (included in the Layouts) are displayed.
When both the Layout and Advertising Image options are selected, then the Items/Products (included in the Layout) will be displayed AFTER the Advertising image. Patrons will need to scroll down to see these.

This is generally presented to patrons when they navigate to the Home menu for the first time. In most cases it is an image informing patrons of the options available to them when ordering from the Venue. However, it can also be a list of Items/Products, patrons can select from prior to placing an Order. It can also be both. To configure Upselling for Advertising in OrderAway, do as follows in:
In the POS tab (refer HERE for more information), do as follows:
- Ensure the Show on Home Menu option is selected.
- To display a list of Items/Products to patrons, enter the ID of the Layout in the Using Layout ID field.
- To display an advertising image to patrons, select the Select button to locate the image and select the appropriate image. Once selected and loaded, the image will be displayed in the Advertising Image section.
- Alternatively, a message can be displayed to patrons if no image is selected. To do this:
- Enter the message in the Message field.
- Select Save to save the changes.

Upselling in OrderAway provides Venues with the option of Upselling in the form of:
- Add Ons - This is generally presented to patrons when they navigate to the Checkout for the first time. In most cases it is a list of Items/Products, patrons can select from to add to their existing Order. However, it can also be an image informing patrons of the options available to them when ordering from the Venue. Refer HERE for more information.
- Advertising - This is generally presented to patrons when they navigate to the Home menu for the first time. In most cases it is an image informing patrons of the options available to them when ordering from the Venue. However, it can also be a list of Items/Products, patrons can select from prior to placing an Order. Refer HERE for more information.
Upselling can be presented to patrons in either of the following ways:
- Images - This is generally an advertising image to present to patrons when upselling.
- Layouts - This refers to a swiftpos Keyboard Layout, to which Items/Products, intended to present to patrons in the form of upselling, have been added.
What Is Required? ▲ ▼
- swiftpos v10.22+
- OrderAway must already be implemented at the Venue and functioning as expected. That is, it must be installed and operational.
- Ensure the Enable Upselling option is selected in the POS tab.
- Identify those Items/Products that maybe displayed to patrons when they proceed to either the Home Menu or the Checkout.
- If Upselling is achieved using:
- Advertising Images - Then ensure the images that will be presented to patrons are available prior to configuring Upselling. Identify the Advertising Image (in the form of a PNG or JPG file) that maybe displayed to patrons when they proceed to either the Home Menu or the Checkout. It is recommended that the image be of a width to height ratio of 9:16.
- Layouts - Then ensure that a Keyboard Layout has been created in Back Office and is available to the Location. Also, ensure all Items/Products that will be presented to patrons, are added to the Layout.

- Upselling can be configured by anyone that has the appropriate level of authority to access the configuration tabs in OrderAway. Refer to How To Access The Configuration Tabs for more information.
When Is It Used? ▲ ▼
Used when Venues want to make patrons, using OrderAway, aware of options available to them in the form of Add Ons or Advertising.
