About

What Is It?

The grouping of Orders, is similar to the Bistro Tables feature currently available in Touch. It allows Orders placed by patrons sitting at the one Location within a Venue (for example, at the same Table) to be grouped together and then sent as a grouped Order to the kitchen for preparation.

Example Scenario

6 patrons seated at a Table intend to place Orders using the Venue's Orderaway menus. With Orderaway configured for Group Ordering, all patrons will have 5 minutes from the time the first Order is placed, within which to scan the Table's QR code and place their respective Orders. Orders placed within the 5 minutes and identified as coming from the same Table, will be held in Touch with a Pending status. These can be accessed via the Orders Pending option if needed. Once the 5 minutes has elapsed, all Orders for the Table will be sent to their respective Kitchen Printers and/or KVSs, grouped together as if they were all ordered in the one sale.

What Is Not Supported?

  • Group Ordering is not available to 3rd Party Integrators.
  • Currently there is no way patrons can extend the time to Order as a group. They are limited to ordering within the Auto group delay time in minutes set. Once the time has passed any new Orders placed will be considered part of a new grouping of Orders.

What Is Required?

What To Consider?

  • All grouped Orders will have the name, of the first patron that submits an Order, visible on all Kitchen Printer dockets and/or displayed on KVSs. This does NOT apply to Receipts or Order Printer dockets as these remain individual to each order placed.
  • On Order Submission:
    • Orders will ONLY be grouped if, they that have scanned the same QR Code as the first Order, and have been submitted within the time (Auto group delay) set after the 1st Order was submitted.
    • The Enable Auto Finalise option may be useful and should be considered when implementing Group Ordering. This is so once the orders are sent for preparation, they are auto-finalised/closed if they have been paid in-full.
  • Docket Printing
    There are Print Fields/Items/Variables that can assist when configuring dockets for Grouping Order. These are:
    • {ORDER NO} - Include this in the docket's Header to ensure all Order numbers that this Order represents, are listed. Consider selecting the ORDER option in the Conditional drop-down list to ensure that it only prints if the Order is an Orderaway Order. Refer HERE for examples.
    • The following Print Fields/Items/Variables will only print information that is associated with the 1st Order submitted in a grouped Order. These are:
      • {BOOKING NAME}
        • In Orderaway - Include this to print the Table number (Location Suffix), patron's name and/or mobile number entered for the first Order submitted. The Capture name option will need to be selected to ensure the patron's name is captured.
      • {CUSTOMER MOBILE PHONE}
        • In Orderaway - Include this to print the patron's phone number entered for the first Order submitted. The Capture phone option will need to be selected to ensure the patron's phone number is captured.

When Is It Used?

In Venues that are using Orderaway.

How To?

Patron Experience

Currently with Group Ordering enabled at a Venue, patrons will be none the wiser that it is available to them. However, there are plans to enhance this feature in the future, which will ensure patrons are aware that the grouping of Orders is available within the Venue and encourage patrons to make use of it.
