Terms & Concepts ▲ ▼
- Event - Generally this refers to an Event which can be configured within OrderAway Profiles and once configured can be used to provide patrons with a URL to place orders prior to the Event. This is not to be confused with the Events module. It does NOT require registration for the Events module and functions independently of the Events module.
For example, Performing Arts Venues can provide their patrons with a URL so that they can place orders in the days prior to the Event. Then, on the Event day, patrons can quickly pickup their order without having to queue and pay for their order. This feature allows for a higher turnover of orders for the Venue, and a more conducive experience for patrons.
Refer to the Events Tab in OrderAway Profiles for more information. - Location Suffix - Each OrderAway Cloud Client ID (Location) will have it's own URL, as can be seen in the Profile tab. From where an Order is being placed is referred to as the Order's location. This could be a a Room, Seat, Suite, Table, etc. Once identified, it can be suffixed to the OrderAway URL and presented to patrons in the form of a QR Code.

- Order Location - Generally refers to the place (physical location) within a Venue from where an Order is being placed. This could be a a Room, Seat, Suite, Table, etc. It is generally used when Venues provide URL's in the form of QR Codes for patron's to scan to access their OrderAway menus. This is referred to as the Location Suffix and is added to the end of the URL. Refer to the Branding & QR Codes for more information.
- OrderAway - OrderAway is a browser based ordering platform, allowing patrons to browse, order and pay all from their smart phone (no app required). OrderAway is a URL or QR-code initiated platform, accessible by any smart device, making it a cost effective solution for restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and stadia. Refer to OrderAway for more information.
- Profile - OrderAway Profiles provide Venues with the added functionality of being able to configure multiple customised OrderAway configurations (referred to as Additional Profiles) for the same OrderAway Location.
Another example maybe, a Venue may seek to make different OrderAway Profiles available to patrons at different times. For example, at Easter and Xmas, a different menu and appearance maybe required to be presented to patrons when ordering during these special occasions.
In support of this, 3 types of Profiles currently exist. These are:
The Default Config – This is the default configuration and once configured can be used to clone (overwrite) to anyone of the other types of Profiles.
The Primary Profile – This is the Venue’s main Profile and as such cannot be deleted.
Additional Profiles – These are the customised configurations created specifically by the Venue to be made available to patrons as required. Any number of Profiles can be created by a Venue, and as such can also be deleted. These Profiles use the same URL as the Primary Profile above; however, they are differentiated with their own unique suffix, which is configured when they are created. Refer to How To Create A Profile for more information.
Initially only the Default Config and the Primary Profile would be listed by default for a Venue.

swiftpos Back Office is maintained as the single source of truth for all menu management, pricing, products, transactions and inventory. All orders appear at the swiftpos Touch Terminal.

OrderAway connects via the swiftpos API to the on premises swiftpos solution. This connection is a secure, VPN-less connection, where all data is pushed through, including, orders, prices, menus, and transaction records.
The swiftpos API enables OrderAway to instant updates whenever changes are made in Back Office, saving time and money.

OrderAway can be configured to suit several different uses based on the Venue requirements.
- Order at Table - Generally initiated by the patron scanning a QR Code on their smartphone , it directs them to the Venue's URL (e.g. The Bistro) and possibly the Outlet (Location) within the same Venue (for example: Table 12, EGM 101, Golf Bay 7, Section A – Seat 12, etc.)
- Remote Ordering for Pickup - Generally initiated by a Venue communication (for example, an email) to a patron, which contains an an embedded URL. This URL provides patrons the option to remotely order and can be configured to facilitate patron Pickup.
- Remote Ordering for Home Delivery - Generally initiated by a Venue communication (for example, an email) to a patron, which contains an an embedded URL. This URL provides patrons the option to remotely order and can be configured to facilitate Home Delivery, by prompting for contact and address details. Delivery limitations can be configured to selected Post Codes or to within a predetermined delivery radius from the Venue.

Pickup and/or Home Delivery can be configured alongside Order at Table for the same Venue in the OrderAway system, provided that Order at Table Location URL suffixes are being used.

- Services - The following swiftpos Services need to be installed and running:
- Cloud Sync Service - This service is ONLY required for Orderaway v3 UI and TouchMini v2. It is automatically installed via the Cloud Onboarding process and needs to be running.
- Connect
- Gateway Client – This new service needs to be installed and will only start when an OrderAway Location is Activated. Once activated, the Gateway Client Service will be manually started. It facilitates the communication from the Site's/Venue’s swiftpos server to the swiftpos OrderAway Cloud Server. This will be an outbound secure amqp internet connection to the Cloud.

- Cloud Onboarding - This is required to establishes a secure connection between swiftpos at a Venue and the swiftpos Cloud infrastructure.

- SwiftAPI URL - Ensure the the SwiftAPI URL is set to the site's Web Server.
- Locations - Venues will need to add each Location that is going to be making use of OrderAway and then also ensure each of them is Activated.

OrderAway must be activated for a swiftpos Location and associated with an Orders Master Touch Terminal in the Venue for Orders to be processed.

swiftpos sites that have v10.37+ installed, MUST ensure that the Cloud Onboarding process has been completed.
- For Venues that have swiftpos v10.37+, the Cloud Onboarding process must be completed.
- Server - Access to the swiftpos server, with ability to run Back Office as the swiftpos Administrator.
- Authentication To swiftpos At A Venue

- Orders - Ensure that for each Location, listed in the OrderAway Locations, a single swiftpos Touch Terminal is designated as the Orders Master Terminal and has the Orders > Enabled option selected.
- Also, consideration may need to be given to the Finalise Remote/Web Order options available within the Table Tracking > Orders tab.
Venue Manager ▲ ▼
- Ensure the Payments have been configured. Refer to Payments for more information.
- Ensure the Trading Periods have been configured. Refer to Trading Periods for more information.
- Connect Permissions
In the Connect menu, select the Permissions option. Refer to How To Access Venue Manager for more information.
Then select the following from the Select Integrator drop down list:
- Micropower Member Services entry and ensure the following options are enabled:
- POS Presets
- Member/Loyalty Presets
- MPowerApos entry and ensure the following options are enabled:
- POS Presets
- Member/Loyalty Presets
- Ensure the Update button is selected to save any configuration changes made.
Web Server ▲ ▼
A Web server (for example, IIS) must exist and have the swiftpos API installed. Refer to HERE for more information.
What Is Not Supported? ▲ ▼
The following limitations currently apply to OrderAway:
- Web Redemption Ratio - If it is set to anything other than 0, then this is what will be returned to OrderAway. If it is set to 0, then the same Redemption Ratio as returned to Touch is returned to OrderAway.
- Points Accounts - Currently OrderAway is limited to only the 1st Points Account. Support for multiple Loyalty Point buckets is coming soon. Given this if a Venue wants to use ePurse points in OrderAway, it is recommended to do the following:
- Assign Media 529 to Points in Back Office.
- Ensure the Get Points Account option is NOT selected in the swiftpos Back Office Interface Settings tab in NetPOS. If it IS SELECTED, then swiftpos will always return this as the Points Account and NOT the 1st ePurse Points Account.
- Refer to Availability of Order/Sale Features Overview available in Touch, TouchMini, OrderAway, Kiosk and Web Store.
When Is It Used? ▲ ▼
OrderAway can be implemented in any swiftpos Venue that has been Cloud Onboarded and in any of it's Location's that have been Activated. OrderAway is a web-based application and therefore can be accessed from any web enabled device.
