About

What Is It?

Copying or Cloning a Keyboard will depend on why the action is required to be performed. Venues may decide to, for example:

  • Copy a Keyboard - When it has multiple Locations and wants to minimise the maintenance of Keyboards and Layouts. For example, a Bar and Restaurant in a Venue may share the same Layouts, but each have is own unique Layout set as the HOME Layout for each. For example, the HOME Layout for the Bar a Drinks Layout and for the Restaurant maybe a Food Layout. Both Layouts will be accessible from both Locations.
  • Clone a Keyboard - When a new restaurant menu is being created and the Venue does not want to start from scratch. to minimise the maintenance of Keyboards and Layouts.

What Is Required?

  • A Keyboard with Layouts and POS Keys assigned and configured must already exist.

When Is It Used?

A Keyboard can either be:

  • Copied - Copying a Keyboard generates a duplicate of the Keyboard without including its Layouts. This is particularly beneficial when a unique HOME Layout is required to be assigned to the Bar and Restaurant separately. It also simplifies ongoing maintenance by reducing the number of Keyboards that need to be updated that have the same Products.
  • Cloned - Cloning a Keyboard generates an exact replica of a Keyboard along with all of its Layouts. This is particularly helpful when an entirely new Keyboard needs to be created. For example, when preparing to replace an existing one or when setting up a new Restaurant menu. At the time of changeover, ensure the old Keyboard is deleted to avoid any confusion in the Venue.
