Configure Automatic Price Levels Using Update Expressions

Back Office - How To

This outlines How To Configure Automatic Price Levels Using Update Expressions in Back Office.

How To?      ▲ ▼

When initially setting up Price Levels, it is recommended to do as follows:

  • Temporarily set the Update Expression to None for all Price Levels. Refer HERE for more information.

  • Run the Price Change Wizard to ensure the initial pricing of the appropriate Price Level (for example, for the Normal Price Level) is set.

  • Now configure the Update Expression of each of the other Price Levels (excluding the Normal Price Level) as required, ensuring the Normal Price Level is used as the source price.

  • This will ensure that any future price changes to the cost/sell price of the Normal Price Level, will automatically adjust the prices of the other Price Levels.

Why Is The Update Expression For All Price Levels Temporarily Set To None?

When all Price Levels, except the Normal Price Level, use the Normal Price Level as the Source (Base) price to calculate their pricing, then a price change will trigger all Price Levels to be calculated and updated as well. When this applies to a large number of items/products, it will impact heavily on the time taken to commit the price change. Setting the Update Expression to None temporarily for all Price Levels, ensures the committing of the price change runs more quickly, and does not have an adverse impact.
